I grew up in St. Louis going to St. Joseph's Academy for high school.
At the University of Missouri-Columbia, I earned a Bachelor's in Elementary Education and then was employed by the Jefferson City Public Schools where I taught Kindergarten, First Grade, Fourth Grade and Fifth Grade.
When my children were little, I was a stay-at-home mom and taught preschool. Since moving back to St. Louis in 2006 and working at the School District of Clayton, I earned a Master's in Reading from Webster University and a Specialist degree from Lindenwood University in Teacher Leadership with an emphasis in Literacy. This is my twelfth year at Captain Elementary, and my nineteenth year of teaching elementary age children.
I am married to my high school sweetheart, Peter, who works for the Environmental Law Clinic at Washington University. We have two daughters who are at Clayton High School. Anne is a junior and Carolyn is a freshman. We live in an over 100 year old house in Webster Groves with our family dog, Rosie. She is a small, white fluffy, Shih-tzu/Bichon Frise mix. In my spare time, I love to garden, read and work on my old house.
